Suki caught up with Harriet and Hannah in one of their first interviews since becoming Joint Managing Directors at Pablo. They discuss what it's like both being at the helm, and how much they’ve embraced the opportunity to work with one another. They’re delighted at being able to lead, grow and share this journey together and they touch upon their own strengths and how they make for a great partnership.

Hannah talks about being blown away by all the achievements of Pablo over the past year in what has been a difficult time for the whole industry. As well as the work, she admired how Pablo managed to avoid any redundancies, how they made a 50/50 even split of creatives between men and women and how they donated their rent to Shelter. It was an agency that demonstrated being nimble and acting with real integrity.  

Harriet touches on the nurture she received when she joined Pablo; and as she went into a head of department role, she felt it her duty to ensure everyone in her team felt the same so they could operate and thrive. She’s passionate about creating the right conditions for people to flourish and ensuring a good sense of culture that allows diverse inclusive perspective to come into the workplace - and making Pablo a place where people enjoy coming into work.

They talk about the success of last 18 months and how it’s been an incredible learning curve and key driver of their successes with some of their clients including: Costa Coffee, DFS, Betfair and Deliveroo. They want to harness these learnings and use them to propel Pablo forwards. The agency was happy to just change things as and when needed, and they always engaged clients early to knuckle down with them as an extended part of the team. This has meant Pablo is like “an agile, efficient little speed boat”.

Challenges are further touched upon including how to scale rapidly, especially when everyone has been working remotely, as well as how it’s been particularly difficult for younger team members – how do they learn from their environment when they’re not physically in it. They’re currently looking for a new office which is fit for their new world, and the size of the agency that they’ve grown into over the last year.
