The 2019 Future Leaders Award [FLA] is here. Awarded by WACL, in partnership with NABS, this purpose-led scheme celebrates emerging, inspirational UK female leaders in communications, marketing & media. This is the 14th year of awarding grants to future female leaders and the call for submissions is out.

Michelle Whelan, CEO Geometry UK, who represents WPP and Geometry on the FLA Council, explains, “Businesses need gender balance to reflect their customer base, to evolve their thinking and behaviours - and ultimately to outperform the competition. Yet the journey to inclusivity still has far to go. The award’s generous bursary is a fantastic step in helping women who want to advance in their careers but feel they might not have the right skills to progress to the level. We all know someone who has great potential but just needs some support to go a bit further.”

Some fast facts

FLA is open to all UK-based women in communications, marketing & media in full time, part time employment, or, in between jobs, across all ages. Entries open on Wednesday 9th September and close on 23rd October.

There is a simple entry form to download [see below].  Once submitted, FLA judges will review applications, and, short-listed candidates will be invited to meet a small group of judges to present their story. Winners will be chosen, and, celebrations will take place in March/April 2020.

As Michelle observes, “It’s a real chance to invest in our colleagues and friends in the business. It doesn’t matter whether the aim is to get to the top of the corporate ladder or strike out alone.
