David Wheldon – Managing Director, Brand, Reputation, Citizenship and Marketing 

61A6E950-A2DD-F868-A8B98AF705F47320In February 2012, David joined Barclays PLC as Managing Director, Brand, Reputation, Citizenship and Marketing; tasked with accelerating the implementation of the design and operations of the global marketing and citizenship functions.

David started his career at Saatchi & Saatchi as a graduate trainee where he rose to Group Account Director. He then moved on to be the Managing Director of Lowe Howard-Spink in London, before being recruited to Global Director and Vice President of Advertising for the Coca-Cola Company based in Atlanta. David then returned to the agency world as President of BBDO Europe and then joined Tempus as a main board director and CEO of Tempus Partners which was later to be purchased by WPP, where David set up Team Vodafon. He joined Vodafone in mid-2004 and became Global Brand Director in 2005, later becoming the CEO of Vodafone Ireland Marketing Ltd in January 2008. David left Vodafone in September 2010 returning to live and work in London.

David also holds posts as a Non-Executive Director of Brandtone. He is a fellow of The Marketing society , a council member of the Marketing Group of Great Britain and an executive committee member of the World Federation of Advertisers

Debbie Klein, Chief Executive Officer of Engine

Debbie KleinDebbie became Chief Executive of Engine in 2010, having been Joint Chief Executive for the previous 2 years.  She runs the UK business, overseeing the 10 partner companies (which include digital communications, advertising, direct marketing, data, public relations, brand consultancy and sponsorship). She was Chief Executive of WCRS from 2005-2008 and continues to be involved as Chairman of the advertising agency. She was a founding partner in the management buyout of WCRS in 2004. Prior to that she was Head of Planning at WCRS for five years and started her career at AC Nielsen and Saatchi and Saatchi as a Strategic Planner.

Debbie was previously named one of the Sunday Times ‘Top 40 under 40 in Media’ and is one of Campaign’s ‘Women of Today’. Engine has been named one of the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For for the past four years running. She has also been Chairman of the Board of Trustees of JW3, the Jewish Community Centre London for the past four years, has been recognised as The South African Business Leader of the Year and won The Drum Woman of the Year award in 2014.

Martin Glenn is CEO of United Biscuits
MglennMartin Glenn is CEO of United Biscuits, which was recently (November 2014) successfully sold form Private Equity ownership to Yildiz Holdings – a multi-national Turkish company. Prior to UB, he was CEO of Iglo Foods Group (2006 – 2012) where he led the company from being a division of Unilever in November 2006. In July 2010 he oversaw the acquisition of Findus Italy from Unilever to a stand alone Private Equity backed business.

Prior to this role, Martin worked with Pepsico for 15 years on its Snackfoods business. Joining Walkers in 1992, he was responsible for the launch of Walkers Crisps into Scotland, the successful launch of Doritos and the dramatic growth of Walkers Crisps, catalysed by the highly acclaimed (and still running) Gary Lineker advertising campaign, becoming one of the UK’s biggest brands . Between 2003 and 2006 Martin was given accountability for all of UK/Ireland Pepsico business, including Quaker, Tropicana and Brand Pepsi.

Martin is an advocate of explaining the positive social contribution made by Business in general and marketing in particular. In 2013, he became President of The Marketing Society which he is using to campaign for a greater share of the “C-Suite” to go to people with a marketing background. Martin is also a NED at Chime Communications.

Pete Markey – Chief Marketing Officer, The Post Office

Pete Markey is Chief Marketing Officer for The Post Office, an organisation with the largest retail network in the UK visited by 18m customers a week. He is responsible for all brand and marketing across the organisation covering the full breadth and depth of the Post Office’s product and service offering. Pete was previously RSA Insurance Group Chief Marketing Officer for three years and MORE TH>N Marketing Director and Head of Marketing prior to this.

Previously Pete has worked in Onetel, the AA and British Gas. He is an experienced Director, having worked across a range of disciplines including marketing, sales, e-business, operations and strategy.

Pete graduated from Southampton with a BA Hons in Corporate Communication and is a CIM Chartered Marketer. Pete has been awarded the DRUM, MI and Marketing Society Marketer of the Year awards. In 2009, he completed a 2 year MBA with Distinction at Ashridge Business School. In 2010, he was made a “Fellow” of the Marketing Society, and joined their Management Board. Pete has consistently appeared in Marketing Magazine’s annual “Power 100” feature as one of the leading marketers in his field.
