We said farewell back in 2018, so we’re thrilled to have you back! What brought you back to Oystercatchers?
Oystercatchers has always been a recognised and established organisation within the marketing industry. With Oystercatchers now part of Xeim, I think we’re in a great position to play an important role in the future of our industry .
What would you say is your personal tip for a client when in the agency search and select process?
Interrogate yourself first, ask why you are starting this process. Then always be clear and consistent. I think this ranges from the feedback you provide to the agencies, the objectives or brief you set them, to the stakeholders you include and bring into the process.
And the same for an agency in the process?
I think the same could be true for agencies. Interrogate the brief, ask why as a business you want to be involved in the process, why you believe you can win it and use every opportunity to win. It is imperative to consider the clients experience of you through the process.
What’s one of your favourite campaigns and why? Perhaps something from your childhood or something from your career….
There are two campaigns that stand out in my memory; Honda Cogs and Guinness Surfers. I remember seeing them when I was fairly young and, Cogs at the cinema, and appreciating them as more than what you were conditioned to expect from an advert. I think both are excellent examples of bold clients and real creativity from agencies. I count myself as very fortunate to have met some of the teams that worked on these.
What are your interests outside of work?
I have recently returned from living in Australia where I was able to surf a lot. Now based in London it’s a little harder to do, so I have been spending a lot of time on bikes.
Can you share a little-known fact about yourself with us?
I have a fairly unique birthday as it falls on a leap year and is a palindromic date.
