For the fourth time since the awards were founded in 1980, BBH was last night crowned IPA Effectiveness Company of the Year. The awards are described as ‘the advertising industry’s most rigorous and prestigious awards’ and include entries from all corners of the globe.

As well as being named ‘Effectiveness Company of the Year’, BBH London received a total of 5 awards including the highly coveted Grand Prix accolade for its work with Tesco. The paper, titled ‘From running shops to serving customers’, focuses on the Tesco turnaround story which has seen the nation’s favourite supermarket put customers back at the heart of what they do. This has led to 16 consecutive quarters of growth for the brand, and communications delivering £863m of incremental profit between 2015 and 2019 with a profit ROMI of £2.73.

BBH had more highly awarded campaigns than any other agency at this year’s awards. This included a Silver award for it’s work with Heinz [Seriously] Good Mayonnaise as it overcame the ‘difficult second stage of launch’ syndrome, increasing value sales by 67%, and a further Gold for its four decades of success with founding client Audi. This isn’t the first time BBH and Audi have had success at the IPA Effectiveness Awards, having taken home the Grand Prix in 2018. This year, however, the paper looks at the complete story of Vorsprung durch Technik, the award-winning work over four decades and the long-term value it has created. Since 1982, Audi has grown 7.6x faster than the UK car market and the Vorsprung durch Technik brand idea has been calculated to add £31.8bn in sales.

Since announcing its new Leadership team in June, this is the second ‘Agency of the Year’ accolade BBH has been awarded in 2020, having taken home the Marketing Week Masters Agency of the Year title last month.

Simon Gregory & Will Lion, Joint Chief Strategy Officers, at BBH London, said:

"We've always said that 'Our objective is effectiveness, our strategy is creativity' and our IPA successes over the last four years on a range of clients from Tesco and Audi to Barclays, Weetabix and Heinz shows that this spirit is alive. We can't wait to do the same for more brands."
